Home Remedies to Treat Swollen Feet-Ankles

The swelling of feet and ankles is medically referred to as peripheral edema. It is not a painful condition. It is only a build-up of fluid in the two areas. Although it does not cause pain, the building up of fluid can be a sign of something serious internally.

Apart from physical injury to the two areas, the build-up of fluid can be caused by several factors. Some of the factors include failure of the kidneys, congestive heart failure (CHF), obesity, cirrhosis, osteoarthritis, pregnancy, hypertensive heart disease, malnutrition and premenstrual syndrome among other factors.
